Ever woke up in the morning with a pinch in your lower back? Been doing too much hiking and are feeling it in your quads? Want to open up your upper back by taking on a deep backbend? Whatever your reason may be, bow pose is the perfect asana. to reset the body and leave you feeling refreshed!
Bow pose, or Dhanurasana, is one of my favorite asanas, particularly to incorporate in my morning practice. It is a comprehensive pose that is so much more than just a backbend! When practiced, bow pose will give you a full spinal extension, leaving you feeling lighter for the rest of the day. It opens up the upper and lower back, lengthening the spine, while also bringing extension along the quadriceps, allowing you to walk stronger and taller. It also helps stimulate the digestive organs, activating the fire element, and leaving you energized for the rest of the day.
Bow pose is also great for stimulating the Manipura, or solar plexus chakra. This chakra is located in the navel region of the body. Stimulation of this charka can not only improve digestion, but also can lead to increased self-confidence, empowerment, and better decision-making skills.
